CrossFit & My Reebok Nano 3.0

This week has been an ass kicker in terms of workouts, and I know this upcoming weekend will be no different. Three runs and three WODs will cap out the week for me, so I’m curious to see how my body feels with the higher volume. Time will tell eh?

This week’s CrossFit workouts were really challenging for me, and as I type this on Thursday night, I’m still vaguely sore in my upper body. Honestly, I’m not sure if it’s from Wednesday’s lactate threshold workout or still lingering from Monday’s pull-up beat down, but regardless, my body is feeling it!

Monday’s workout at Big Horn:

In short, we did 100 of each exercise on the chart, including the freaking pull-ups. Yes, I did band assisted pull-ups, but it didn’t matter; those last 10 were killer! And typically, double unders are no problem for me, but I was getting so darn tired from the push-ups and pull-ups that I was struggling to string more than 5-7 together after the first round! My final time for Monday’s WOD was 14:14, and I was totally happy—I worked my booty off for every single one of those minutes!

Y’all, rowing is so not my thing and I have yet to become efficient at that exercise. However, my one redeeming factor in this workout was that I tend to recover quickly, so I was able to bounce back pretty quickly within the allotted minute of rest. My overall time for this WOD, including the rest, was 10:28. However, when I finally figure out this whole rowing thing, I know I can do better!

The other exciting thing about this week’s CrossFit workouts was that I finally got to try out my brand-spanking-new Reebok Nano 3.0 shoes!

Reebok sent them to me in this month’s package, and I was beyond psyched—I have been coveting these shoes ever since I saw them at the Games a few weeks ago. I’ve worn the Nano 2.0 to CrossFit for the past year and was completely happy with them, but still curious about the new version. I feel like sometimes updated models of shoes rock my world but other times, totally fail. But guess what? Digging the 3.0 model! They seem to be a bit more cushioned but a tad lighter with more flexibility. They still have a nice roomy toe box too, which I love!

      Yowza! We have Karen on deck today, so 150 wall balls– I bet my legs are on fire!

    I hateeeee rowing! I couldn’t get to CrossFit that much this week– but when I went to my gym I found myself getting on the rower– what was I thinking?! I guess I gotta work on what I stink at!

    CrossFit work outs make my head spin. Never tried rowing so have absolutely no idea if I’d like it but my guess would be it wouldn’t be my favorite. As for those shoes? Those are hawt!

      They’re definitely less neon than I’m used to but maybe that’s a good thing 🙂

    Oh man, here it is Friday and I’m still sore from Tuesday’s workout! We had a 14:00 AMRAP of 25 ring dips and 50 squats. Ring dips are definitely a weakness for me, so I knew this was going to be tough. (It wasn’t actually an AMRAP, the it was 6 rounds or 14:00, but it might as well have been an AMRAP!)

    Anyway, I misread the workout and did sets of 30 dips, and five extra per set is a lot when you’re me! I’m still paying the price four days later 🙂

    Can’t wait to try the Nano 3.0 shoes out! I’m working on getting a pair through Hella Life at CrossFit Love and am excited to hear more about them as you test them. Good job on your workouts this week1

    I feel like I’m going to be really sore tomorrow because we did ring dips today and I was realllly pushing it! I love feeling sore though cause I’m like STRENGTH! The longest I’ve been sore from a workout is probably like five days. I can’t remember from what but it’s definitely happened. I think it wa ssomething to do with weighted lunges — a LOT of them.

      Squats are the ones that get me– my hamstrings are always sore afterwards!

    Um, HOLY COW 100 PULL-UPS?! Girlfriend, you know I love my pull-ups, but even I could never fathom 100 in a single workout. Shoot, I was excited about doing 12 in a row just now. Wowza, you are my hero!

    Hmmm….definitely a few days! I swear Body Pump has left me in pain nearly a week if I haven’t done it for awhile!
